General Questions
Solar energy harnesses sunlight using photovoltaic (PV) panels to generate electricity. When sunlight hits the solar cells in a panel, it creates a flow of direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter converts this DC into alternating current (AC), which powers your appliances. Any excess energy can be stored in batteries or — in grid-tied systems — exported back to the national grid.
Absolutely. Nigeria is one of the best locations in the world for solar energy, receiving an average of 4.5–6.5 peak sun hours per day across most regions. The country's tropical climate means consistent, high levels of solar irradiation year-round, making solar a highly effective and reliable energy source for homes and businesses.
Modern solar panels still generate electricity on cloudy days, though at reduced capacity (typically 10–25% of peak output). At night, if you have a battery storage system, your stored energy powers your home. Without batteries, hybrid systems automatically switch to the grid or a generator. We design every system to account for low-sun periods so you always have reliable power.
Kineti Solar was founded in 2016. With over 8 years of experience, we have completed more than 500 solar installations ranging from small 2kW residential systems to large 500kW industrial projects across 12+ states in Nigeria. Our team holds NABCEP certification and our products are ISO 9001:2015 compliant.
Costs & Financing
Solar installation costs vary depending on system size, equipment brand, and complexity. As a rough guide:
- Small Residential (2–5kW): ₦1.5M – ₦4M
- Medium Residential (5–10kW): ₦4M – ₦8M
- Commercial (20–50kW): ₦12M – ₦30M
- Industrial (100kW+): Custom pricing

Yes. We offer flexible payment options including outright purchase, instalment plans (spread over 6–24 months), and we partner with select financial institutions that offer solar energy loans. We can also work with businesses to explore lease-to-own and power purchase agreement (PPA) arrangements for larger commercial installations.
No. Our quotes are fully transparent and itemised. They cover equipment supply, installation labour, electrical wiring, mounting structures, commissioning, and first-year inspection. The only additional costs you may incur are site-specific factors discovered during the assessment (e.g., roof reinforcement), which we always disclose in writing before proceeding.
Yes. The Nigerian government has zero-rated VAT on solar panels and equipment under the Finance Act. Some states also have additional incentive programmes. We stay up to date on available incentives and our team will advise you during the quotation process on how to take full advantage of them.
Installation Process
Our installation process has four key steps:
- Free Consultation & Site Assessment — We visit your property, assess your energy needs, and design the right system.
- Proposal & Agreement — We present a detailed, itemised quote and, upon approval, agree on a start date.
- Installation — Our certified engineers complete the installation. Most residential systems take 1–2 days; commercial systems 3–7 days.
- Commissioning & Handover — We test every component, walk you through the system, and provide full documentation and warranty cards.
Most residential installations (up to 10kW) are completed within 1–2 working days. Larger commercial systems typically take 3–7 days, and major industrial projects are scheduled on a project-by-project basis. We always give a clear timeline in our proposal before we begin.
No. We use industry-standard roof mounting systems designed to protect your roof's integrity. All roof penetrations (if required) are properly sealed and weatherproofed. For flat concrete roofs, we often use ballasted (no-penetration) mounting systems. We conduct a thorough structural assessment before installation to ensure your roof can safely support the system.
Requirements vary by state and local government authority. In most residential cases, no special permit is required, but we ensure our installations comply with all applicable COREN and NERC regulations. For commercial and industrial systems, we handle all necessary documentation and regulatory filings on your behalf.
System & Equipment
We supply and install only Tier-1, internationally certified equipment. Our preferred brands include:
- Solar Panels: Jinko Solar Tiger Pro, LONGi Hi-MO Series
- Inverters: Victron Energy MultiPlus, Growatt, Sungrow
- Batteries: Pylontech US Series, FELICITY Lithium
- Charge Controllers: Victron SmartSolar MPPT
All equipment comes with full manufacturer warranties and we can source specific brands on request.
On-Grid (Grid-Tied): Connected to the national grid. Solar supplements your grid electricity, reducing bills. No batteries required. Shuts down during grid outages.
Off-Grid: Fully independent of the grid. Relies entirely on solar panels and battery storage. Ideal for remote locations with no grid access.
Hybrid: The most popular choice in Nigeria. Combines solar panels, battery storage, and grid connectivity. Uses solar first, stores excess in batteries, and uses the grid as a backup when both are insufficient.
System size depends on your daily energy consumption (in kWh) and the appliances you want to power. As a guideline:
- Small home (basic appliances): 2–4kW
- Medium home (AC, fridge, TV, lights): 5–10kW
- Large home / small business: 10–20kW
Our engineers conduct a full energy audit to recommend the precise system size for your needs. Request a free assessment.
Premium monocrystalline solar panels typically have a manufacturer performance warranty of 25–30 years, guaranteeing at least 80% of rated output at the end of that period. In practice, well-maintained panels often last 30–35 years. Inverters typically last 10–15 years and batteries 8–15 years depending on the chemistry and usage.
Maintenance & Support
Solar systems are very low maintenance. The main task is periodic cleaning of panels (every 2–3 months) to remove dust and debris, which we can handle as part of a maintenance contract. We also recommend an annual professional inspection to check all electrical connections, panel performance, and battery health. Inverters should have firmware updates checked annually.
We provide a comprehensive 10-year system warranty on all our installations, covering workmanship and system integration. This is in addition to the manufacturer warranties on individual components — typically 25 years on panels, 5–10 years on inverters, and 5–10 years on batteries. All warranty terms are clearly documented in your installation certificate.
We provide 24/7 after-sales technical support. In the event of a fault, you can reach our support team by phone or WhatsApp at any time. For systems with remote monitoring, we can often diagnose issues remotely and resolve them without a site visit. If a physical visit is required, our engineers aim to attend within 24–48 hours for most locations.
Yes. We offer annual and bi-annual maintenance packages that include scheduled panel cleaning, system inspection, performance reporting, firmware updates, and priority response for faults. Maintenance contracts are especially popular with commercial and industrial clients who want guaranteed uptime. Contact us for a tailored plan.
Savings & ROI
Savings depend on your system size, energy consumption, and sun hours in your area. Typically, our residential clients report electricity bill reductions of 70–95%. Businesses that previously spent heavily on diesel generators often save even more — some commercial clients recoup their investment in electricity savings alone within 2–4 years.
For residential systems, the typical payback period is 3–5 years depending on electricity tariffs, generator fuel costs, and system size. For businesses with high diesel generator costs, payback can be as short as 18 months to 3 years. After payback, you essentially enjoy free electricity for the remaining 20+ years of the system's useful life.
Yes. Properties with installed solar systems consistently command higher market values and are more attractive to buyers and tenants. In Nigeria's current energy environment where reliable power is a premium, a well-installed solar system is a significant asset that differentiates your property in the market.
Most modern inverters come with built-in monitoring via a mobile app or web dashboard. You can track real-time and historical generation data, battery state, energy consumption, and system diagnostics from your smartphone. We configure and demonstrate this monitoring system at handover so you're always in control of your energy data.
